🥄 Ingredients
- 0.5 kg beans
- 1 kg minced meat or lamb pieces with bone (recommended; if unavailable, ground beef can be used)
- 2 large onions (400 g)
- 2 tomatoes, blended
- 3 tablespoons ghee
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 medium tomatoes, blended
- 3 cups boiling water
👩🍳 Instructions
- Boiling the beans:
- Soak the beans in 1 teaspoon of baking soda overnight. The next day, rinse them well and place them in a suitable pot. Cover them with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce the heat and simmer for about 1.5 hour. Check them to ensure they are fully cooked and free of any hardened bits.
- Note: Do not overcook white beans, as they will become mushy and fall apart.
- Preparing the minced meat:
- Finely chop the onion and sauté it in hot ghee with the minced meat until it turns golden and releases its juices. Cover and cook until the meat is cooked through and the liquid has evaporated. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water, and simmer for about 15 minutes over low heat until thickened. Finally, add the boiled and drained beans, along with salt and black pepper. Simmer for another 15 minutes to allow the beans to absorb the tomato flavor.
- Preparing the meat pieces: Peel and finely chop the onion. Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the onion until golden brown. Add the meat and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle the meat with black pepper, then add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water. Simmer over low heat until the meat is fully cooked.
- Add the cooked and drained beans, along with salt and black pepper. Boil for 15 minutes to allow the beans to absorb the tomato flavor.
- Prepare the meat for 15 minutes.
